After this, we go on to the Main Square where the Government Palace and the Town Hall are located. We will visit the Cathedral and explore the San Francisco convent, built in the seventeenth century, to discover the mystery of its catacombs. At lunch time, we will be driven to Pueblo Libre, to enjoy a tasty lunch at Café del Museo, contemporary restaurant inside the Larco Museum, that will be visited after our meal. This is an 18th century mansion built on top a pre-Columbian pyramid circa the 7th century. Lots of treasures often exhibited at the world’s most prestigious museums are there for us to see. Don’t miss the warehouse and the exclusive collection of pre-Columbian erotic ceramics. Night at leisure, ask our guides about the hot places for fine dining. Overnight stay in Lima. Day 3: Lima/Paracas - (Breakfast Included) Private departure to Paracas. We will then go the local airfield to fly over the Nasca lines, huge drawing that can only be seen from the sky and which represent several insects and animals like a monkey, hummingbird, condor or a spider. The origins are unknown, while many think it is a big astronomic calendar. Free rest of the day to enjoy the hotel facilities and surrounding areas. Overnight stay at Paracas. Day 4: Paracas/Lima - (Breakfast Included) Early in the morning we will embark on a boat tour to the Ballestas Islands. The “Chandelier” a giant figure marked in the sand in the style of the Nasca lines can also be seen on our way to the islands. On the islands you will be able to observe sea lions, pelicans, Humboldt penguins and other sea birds. In the afternoon, return to the hotel in Lima. Overnight stay in Lima. Day 5: Lima/Cusco/Sacred Valley - (Breakfast and Lunch Included) Transfer to the airport and flight to Cusco. On arrival, welcoming reception and transfer to our hotel in the Sacred Valley, a lower area in Cusco that allows us to enhance our acclimatization to the altitude. On the way there we will stop for a short visit at the Pisac Market to admire the colorful displays of this community as well as their cultural diversity. Then we are off to Urubamba to the exquisite hotel Tambo del Inca Luxury Collection. Free afternoon to enjoy the hotel facilities. An optional spa session is highly recommended. Overnight stay at Urubamba. Day 6: Sacred Valley - (Breakfast and Lunch Included) We will travel to remote places of the Sacred Valley. First stop: Chinchero, where we’ll take a walk around its beautiful town and archaeological complex. We will also have the opportunity to see a short exhibit of traditional textiles, a distinctive feature of this town dedicated to following ancestral dyeing techniques to create high quality works of art. Our trip continues in Moray, a place with a breathtaking view thanks to its colossal concentric terraces resembling a coliseum. What did they use it for? The terraces recreated 20 different types of microclimates, and they were studied to ensure the agricultural production of the empire. After a picnic-style lunch we will continue our journey to Maras, the millenary colonial salt mines. The contrast of the white pools against the green valley is so impressive that it resembles a postcard. Our last stop: Ollantaytambo, a small town full of local color and inhabited since Inca times in which we will visit the main temple used as a fortress during the Inca resistance. Breathtaking views for amazing pictures. Overnight stay at Urubamba. Day 7: Sacred Valley/Machu Picchu/Cusco - (Breakfast and Lunch Included) A train trip away to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We arrive at the Aguas Calientes station where our staff will assist us on boarding the bus to go up the winding road to Machu Picchu, amid a spectacular view of the Urubamba River and its canyon. The Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu, will astonish us with its terraces, ceremonial shrines, steps and urban areas. Energy is all around us. After a guided visit, we will have time to explore the fortress and have lunch at Tinkuy Sanctuary’s Lodge restaurant. Stay in Cusco. Day 8: Cusco - (Breakfast and Lunch Included) Our tour guide will take us around the city of Cusco at our own pace, exploring the city on foot to get us into less explored places as well as visiting the city’s main attractions and the Sacsayhuaman archaeological park. If you want to as well, we will visit Cusco’s South Valley where the Huaro Church and the ancestral water shrine, Tipon, stand out. At noon, we will stop for a lunch tasting at MAP Café. Night at leisure, we strongly recommend to start with pisco appetizers at Limo Restaurant, with a majestic view of the Main Square at night. Overnight stay in Cusco. Day 9: Cusco/Lima - (Breakfast Included) At the fixed time, transfer to the airport for your departure to Lima. Upon arrival, assistance at airport for your international departure.
