Day 1: Lima Arrival to Lima and welcoming reception. Overnight stay in Lima. Day 2: Lima - (Breakfast Included) In the morning we will set off for the archaeological sanctuary of Pachacamac which is located at only 30km south of Lima. Adobe made and overlooking the ocean and the Lurin River Valley, this was the center of pilgrimage for many of the cultures that inhabited Peru in the past. When the Incas arrived, the complex was adapted as an administrative center, respecting the local constructions. See the Temple of the Sun, the Acllahuasi, the Taurichumbi Palace, and the Pilgrims Plaza, among others. We will also visit the In-site Museum to have a better understanding and see the remains found in the area. Then, we will continue to Huaca Pucllana Restaurant, infront of breathtaking pre-Inca remains. After lunch, we will have a tour through Lima’s streets and plazas. Starting at the Love Park in Miraflores, with a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean, and then heading to the Huaca Pucllana, ceremonial center of the Lima culture. Later we will go to San Isidro, financial center of the city to visit the Huaca Huallamarca, ancient pre-Incan shrine. After this, we go on to the Main Square where the Government Palace and the Town Hall are located. We will visit the Cathedral and explore the San Francisco convent, built in the seventeenth century, to discover the mystery of its catacombs. Night at leisure; we strongly suggest to indulge your senses with an epicurean experience. Overnight stay in Lima. Day 3: Lima/Paracas - (Breakfast Included) Departure to Paracas with private guide and transportation. On arrival, accommodation at our hotel. We will then go the local airfield to fly over the Nasca lines, huge drawing that can only be seen from the sky and which represent several insects and animals like a monkey, hummingbird, condor or a spider. The origins are unknown, while many think it is a big astronomic calendar. Free rest of the day to enjoy the hotel facilities and surrounding areas. Overnight stay at Paracas. Day 4: Paracas/Lima - (Breakfast Included) Early in the morning we will embark on a boat tour to the Ballestas Islands. The “Chandelier” a giant figure marked in the sand in the style of the Nasca lines can also be seen on our way to the islands. On the islands you will be able to observe sea lions, pelicans, Humboldt penguins and other sea birds. In the afternoon, return to our hotel in Lima. Overnight stay in Lima. Day 5: Lima/Cusco - (Breakfast Included) Transfer to the airport and flight to Cusco. On arrival, welcoming reception and transfer to hotel. In the afternoon, we will visit the highlights of the magnificent Cusco Downtown, a mélange of cultures and styles from the Spanish and Inca cultures. Our first stop will be the Santo Domingo or Koricancha (Temple of Gold) a beautiful convent built over an Inca palace. We will continue to the Cathedral to delight ourserlves with awe-inspiring paintings from the Cusco School. Continuing our immersion in the city, we will visit Sacsayhuaman, a huge and impressive fortress of colossal constructions and surrounded by beautiful views blending together perfectly. Our adventure continues at the Inca Shrine Qenqo, to see the sacrificial altar embedded inside a rock cave. Finally we will arrive to the Puca Pucara viewpoint and Tambomachay, monument of impressive architectonic knowledge considered as one of the pillars of Andean Cosmo vision. Overnight stay in Cusco. Day 6: Sacred Valley - (Breakfast and Lunch Included) We will drive to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where our first stop will be Chinchero, where we’ll take a walk around its beautiful town and archaeological complex. We will also have the opportunity to see a short exhibit of traditional textiles, a distinctive feature of this town dedicated to following ancestral dyeing techniques to create high quality works of art. Our trip continues in Moray, a place with a breathtaking view thanks to its colossal concentric terraces resembling a coliseum. What did they use it for? The terraces recreated 20 different types of microclimates, and they were studied to ensure the agricultural production of the empire. After a picnic-style lunch, we will continue our journey to Maras, the millenary colonial salt mines. The contrast of the white pools against the green valley is postcard-perfect. Our last stop: Ollantaytambo, a small town full of local color and inhabited since Inca times in which we will visit the main temple used as a fortress during the Inca resistance. Breathtaking views for amazing pictures. Overnight stay in Sacred Valley. Day 7: Sacred Valley/Machu Picchu - (Breakfast and Lunch Included) Departure to Ollantaytambo for a short walk around the town before getting on the train to Km. 104 where our Inca Trail Express begins, a gentle walk to explore the beauty of Wiñaywayna Complex. After a box-lunch, we will continue to Machu Picchu walking through the Intipunku or Door of the Sun. Overnight stay at one of the hotels in Agua Calientes or Machu Picchu. Day 8: Machu Picchu/Cusco - (Breakfast and Lunch Included) Early in the morning our guide will take us to the Lost City of the Incas for a special visit. This archaeological monument will surround us with its energy and astonish us with its terraces, ceremonial shrines, steps and urban areas. We will have free time to explore Machu Picchu on our own and have lunch at one of the restaurants of the area. At the arranged time, we will return to Cusco by train and will be transferred to our hotel. Overnight stay in Cusco. Day 9: Cusco/Puno - (Breakfast and Lunch Included) The Andean Explorer train is the ideal way to travel between Cusco and Puno. From Cusco to Puno this train crosses the Andes at 4,319 m.a.s.l. showing us an impressive view of snowcapped mountains, never-ending rivers and lush vegetation. The observatory car is the perfect place to see the amazing landscape from the train. Lunch is served on board and a fun stop at La Raya, natural border between Cusco and Puno, is also in the itinerary. On arrival, we will be transferred to the hotel. Overnight stay in Puno. Day 10: Lake Titicaca - (Breakfast and Lunch Included) A full day tour to explore Lake Titicaca. First we will visit the Uros , the friendly inhabitants of these handmade islands made of totora reeds. Then it’s off to Taquile Island, a place in which the settlers still maintain their ancestral traditions and colorful typical clothes. A great opportunity to explore the island and get the best view of the lake. A lunch box is provided in the island. Return to the city in the afternoon. If you desire a closer approach to the local culture and get far from crowds, we recommend switching this visit with the Amantani Island. Overnight stay in Puno. Day 11: Puno/Lima - (Breakfast Included) Time to say goodbye, we will leave Puno after a brief visit on to the Sillustani Mausoleum on our way to the airport. This is a pre-Inca cemetery of the Hatun Colla chiefs in Sillustani, on the shore of Lake Umayo. A great trip to see the funerary towers or Chullpas reaching up to six meters high. Upon arrival, assistance at airport to connect with your international departure flight.
